We wanted to share with you the news that the 2020 Manchester Marathon has been postponed.
Over the past week we have been working alongside fellow organisers, medical experts, and all our amazing stakeholders to fully understand the potential impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on our event. After carefully considering all this advice, we have come to the conclusion that we have no option but to postpone.
We’re sure you share our disappointment regarding this unavoidable postponement, especially as you have been training hard to be able to complete this challenge. At this stage our contingency plans are kicking in, and we will issue a further update regarding next steps by Wednesday 18th March at 6pm.
What happens next?
- We are working to firm up the date for the postponed 2020 Manchester Marathon, likely to be the autumn.
- Following a massive amount of training completed we are hoping to offer runners the chance to complete a marathon remotely should you wish to and earn a finishers medal and t-shirt – as well as justify the funds raised for charity.
- We know many of you have been fund raising for charity. We are speaking to them about how best to support their work during this time.
Finally we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you, our amazing runners, for your hard work and dedication up until this point. We’re very much looking forward to taking the next stage of this challenge with you.
