Our dedicated pacers are passionate about the adidas Manchester Marathon and their role in helping you reach their goals. We have a number of pacers across a wide range of target times, from 2:45 to 6:00.

Your advice for those you are pacing:

As a pacer we have three jobs. Our first job is to slow you down in the early stages when that adrenalin is flowing, our second job is to help you settle into to a nice even pace and enjoy the crowds, then our third and most important job is to physically and mentally get you through that last 10k and get you that time!!.

Advice-wise, trust in your training and tell yourself (and believe) that you can do it!! The 4 hour pacers always get a big group with incredible support from the crowds, build some relationships with runners around you and work with them (and us) to get that time you've worked so hard for...

How many marathons have you completed: More than 30

How many marathons have you paced?: This will be the first. Even though I've not paced the marathon itself, I have been running with the pace teams in marathons like Berlin and London

Your advice for those you are pacing: Think of the event as a big party (in many ways it really is!) Enjoy the amazing music on route (even better, sing along!), high five those little kids, smile and pose for the cameras, chat to others and absorb the whole atmosphere the beautiful city of Manchester.

Your advice for those you are pacing: Trust the process. The pace team have a strategy that will allow you to simply concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other. We run even pace; factor in the time required for hydration stations and calibrate progress at each mile marker. We also make it fun - so relax and enjoy it!

Your advice for those you are pacing:  After weeks or months of training, think of the marathon as your victory lap. You're there to work hard, yes, but also to celebrate your training and how awesome you are just to have signed up in the first place!
