5 reasons why you should run the adidas Manchester Marathon

When you think of Manchester, what comes to mind? Legendary football battles at Old Trafford? The Britpop anthems of Oasis, or melancholic chords of Joy Division? Certainly a warm and hospitable Northern community – not to mention a foodie haven – made from a multicultural fabric and bold creative flair.

As if this wasn’t enough to make Manchester top your destination cities list next year, it also attracts over 28,000 participants each year into the explosive adidas Manchester Marathon. The adidas Manchester Marathon has fast become a prestigious event in the marathon calendar, and 2024 is set to be bigger and better than ever before.

So, why run the adidas Manchester Marathon in 2024? Find out below…

  1. A Legendary Atmosphere

The adidas Manchester Marathon is renowned for its electric atmosphere that permeates every step of the course. You will be cheered on by enthusiastic crowds, offering words of encouragement, hilarious supporter signs, and an incredible sense of camaraderie. The uplifting cheers of the community will propel you towards the finish line.

  1. Flat and Fast

Our route is easily the flattest marathon in the UK, which makes the event perfect for first timers; improvers chasing a personal best; and a competitive elite field. The fastest times to date are Jonny Mellor (male) in 02:10:46 and Becky Briggs (female) in 02:29:06 in 2022, and these times will continue to be challenged by our wide range of elite athletes.

  1. A Destination Marathon

The adidas Manchester Marathon attracts a wide range of participants from across the UK and abroad. Last year, Lithuania’s Ignas Brasevicius won the Men’s Elite event, commenting that he and his family ‘have always wanted to visit Manchester – plus my son is a huge Manchester United fan!’ Other participants came from as far as the Philippines, New Zealand and Ethiopia last year!

  1. Organizational Excellence

We’ve also established ourselves as one of the most well-organized and professionally run marathons in the UK. The event team leaves no stone unturned to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all participants. From efficient registration and ample aid stations to excellent medical support and precise timing systems, every aspect of the event is meticulously planned, allowing you to focus solely on running and achieving your goals.

  1. Post-Race Celebrations

Crossing the finish line is an achievement worth celebrating. As you complete your marathon journey, you’ll be greeted by jubilant crowds and the euphoric energy of the Event Village. Reunite with fellow runners, collect your well-deserved medal, and soak in the festive atmosphere. The party doesn’t stop though, with many participants continuing the celebrations in the city centre, buzzing with bars and the *best* post-marathon grub.

We hope that you’ll join us on Sunday 14th April next year. Entries are now available for a limited time here. See you at the finish line!
