5 things not to miss at this year’s ASICS Manchester Marathon
This year’s ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon is less than 2 weeks away. So, we’ve pulled out 5 things not to miss at this year’s marathon, including one or two brand new developments to keep an eye on…
Mancunian Mile
The Mancunian Mile takes place on the morning of the Marathon. The event is open to all abilities and welcomes runners as young as 4 to soak up the atmosphere of the Marathon itself. The course covers a one-mile stretch, with plenty of spectator points to watch friends and family cross the line. Runners will receive a bespoke Mancunian Mile medal and can also meet Manny the Bee!

Finishers Medal
To celebrate the sheer size of this year’s event, we thought it would only make sense to have a medal that reflected this, and of course the massive achievement of completing a marathon! This year’s medal is in antique gold, boasting the new rebranded Manchester ‘M’ taking centre stage.
Each runner who crosses the finish line will be rewarded with the chunky medal to show off.
Marathon Eve Meet-Up
In keeping with our ‘Friendliest Marathon’ title, we have organised Marathon Eve Meet Up. This event is open to everyone who is running in this year’s marathon, with the aim of providing a supportive and informative evening, including guest speakers and tasty local food offers. Our guest speakers range from broadcasters and authors, to world record holders and assisted runners, so you are sure to pick up some handy last-minute preparation tips and learn about their experiences before your final carb-load before the big day!

The Hangout
New for this year, the Hangout is an exclusive area for your friends and family to meet you after you have completed your marathon. They can also watch the live stream of event as it is happening and be present at the prize giving ceremony which will take place at 12:30pm. The Hangout will also allow you to take part in some fun activities from our partners, grab a bite to eat, and listen to some special live music performances. Please note there is a strict capacity policy at this venue, and entry will be on a first come first served basis.
Pacing Team
Here at Manchester, we have an awesome team of pacers helping you to achieve your marathon target. Our pacing team are a group of experienced runners who are here to help you achieve your goal, whether you’re hitting a 3:00 or 5:30 target, there will be the pacer for you!
