RESULTS OF VOTE TO DECIDE £46,000 IN FUNDING ANNOUNCED

We are delighted to announce the results of the recent public vote to determine who would receive a contribution from the Trafford Active Fund.

Over 30 applicants were cut down to a final five shortlist, and you have been voting over the last few weeks. £1 from every entry into the Manchester Marathon and Half Marathon goes into the fund to be distributed to individuals and organisations who inspire active lifestyles and sporting progress in Greater Manchester.

Nearly 9,000 votes were cast, with the organisations receiving the following share of the votes:

Simply Cycling 35.8%

Henshaws Society for the Blind 23.0%

Disability Snowsport UK 22.6%

Mile Shy Club 11.2%

The Conservation Volunteers 7.4%

Each of the top three will receive £14,000 in funding immediately. The judges were so impressed by all the final five that they have decided to award an additional £2,000 each to those who finished fourth and fifth. Each organisation has provided detailed plans of how they will use the money awarded to immediately individuals in Trafford and Greater Manchester get active during this incredibly testing time.
