UPDATED – We reveal the start list of our elite athlete field
As Europe’s 4th largest marathon, we always welcome a strong field of elite athletes to our start line, however with the news that we are the largest UK marathon to take place in Spring 2022, Sunday 3rd April marks the largest and most competitive field of stellar British athletes we have ever seen in the event to date.
As the host of both the England Commonwealth Games qualifiers and European Athletics Championships 2022 trials, the Therme Manchester Marathon will welcome over 100 of the best British athletes to take on the famous 26.2 mile course through iconic Greater Manchester.
With so many incredible elite athletes signed up to run England Athletics have set tight qualification standards for entry, with athletes assigned to either Category A or Category B depending upon their qualifying time. These times are:
- Male Category A: Under 2:20 (marathon) or 1:05 (half marathon)
- Category B: Under 2:28 (marathon) or 1:08 (half marathon)
- Female Category A: Under 2:40 (marathon) or 1:15 (half marathon)
- Category B: Under 2:50 (marathon) or 1:19 (half marathon)
