Two runners from Wepre, North Wales got more than just a medal at the finish line of the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon on Sunday. Young couple Sean Truett and Lucie Goddard came away newly engaged.

Elite runner Sean got down on one knee to pop the question to his girlfriend of eight years at the finish line in front of thousands of spectators and fellow marathoners.

Finishing in just under three hours, Sean then had a nervous wait as he stood at the finish line ready for his fiancé-to-be to join him after completing the 26.2-mile course.

Both are keen runners, with Sean choosing the ASICS Manchester Marathon for the special moment because of its renowned atmosphere and crowd support.
