THE MARATHON CHEER SQUADS THAT STOLE THE SHOW

Sure, the participants get the medals but let’s be honest adidas Manchester Marathon wouldn’t be the same without the real MVPs lining the streets. From questionable homemade signs to elite-level cheering, our supporters bring the energy every single year. We wanted to celebrate some of our favourite supporters who made the adidas Manchester Marathon 2026 an unforgettable day for those taking part.

1. Barney the golden retriever

Barney was out there doing more for morale than most of us ever could. One participant had a golden retriever count going and claims Barney was one of 12 Goldens out supporting on the course, which may or may not be the official record.

2. Little Belters

We’re not crying you are.  Forget gels and water apparently the real fuel is being told “you are doing so extremely well” by a 7-year-old with a megaphone.

4. Wyncourt Nursing Home

Wyncourt once again proved they’re one of the absolute highlights of mile 10, showing up in full support mode to cheer on every participant passing through.

A huge thank you to all our supporters. Marathon day simply wouldn’t be the same without you and it’s moments like these that remind us just how special the atmosphere on course really is, year after year. Whether you were cheering loudly, holding a sign, or just being there to lift spirits, you make all the difference to every participant out there.
