The 2023 adidas Manchester Marathon takes place on Sunday 16^th April with 28,000 people registered to take part. Whether you’re participating or spectating on the day, check out our F&Qs to ensure a positive experience at this much-anticipated event.

WHAT TIME DOES IT START?

The action kicks off at 9:00, starting with the wheelchairs and elites, with the final waves starting roughly two hours after this time.

IS IT ON TV?

The adidas Manchester Marathon is not on traditional television, but you can watch several different live streams direct from the route on our live coverage page.

WHAT ROADS ARE CLOSED?

Around 125,000 people will be lining the closed streets, with roads in Trafford and the surrounding areas impacted for several hours. You can see all the timings and locations of the closures on our dedicated page.

CAN I TRACK THE LOCATION OF A RUNNER IN THE ADIDAS MANCHESTER MARATHON?

You can get a predicted location for any of the 28,000 runners taking part. The technology uses timing points throughout the course to monitor each runner’s progress, and then predict their movement based on their time so far. You can use it from Sunday 16th April here.

HOW DO I TRAVEL TO THE START LINE?

The easiest way to travel to the adidas Manchester Marathon is to use the city’s tram system. The nearest tram stop to access the start and event village areas is Old Trafford located on the Altrincham line. Please note that we do not recommend spectators going to the Start Line, as is will be very busy and there are no good vantage points to see runners. Instead, why not go to the City Centre for the best views and to soak up the party atmosphere?

HOW DOES BAG DROP WORK?

If you’re looking for a secure area to leave your belongings, there will be a Bag Drop area within the event village. We will issue you with a numbered wristband on the day which you must show when collecting your bag.

Please note, only standard size rucksacks and small bags will be accepted. Please do not bring suitcases!

The bag drop will also be busy, so please arrive with enough time to queue.

WHERE ARE THE TOILETS LOCATED?

For participants going to the Start Line, toilets can be accessed after the Bag Drop. There are then 19 toilets in total on route, roughly every few miles.

WHERE ARE THE DRINKS AND GEL STATIONS LOCATED?

You will find drink and gel stations at the following locations on the route:

• Drinks Station 1 – Chorlton Road, near Ayres Road M15 4AN
• Drink Station 2 – Bridgewater Way near Cornbrook M16 9EZ
• Drinks & Gel Station 3 – A56 near Derbyshire Lane, M32 8BJ
• Drinks & Gel Station 4 – A56 outside Lifecentre, Sale, M32 4BP
• Drinks & Gel Station 6 – Brooklands Road, near A560 roundabout WA14 6UH
• Drinks & Gel Station 7 – A56 outside Magnet, Sale, M33 7AW
• Drink Station 8 – Manchester Rd, Chorlton by Chorlton Library M21 9PN

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE EVENT?

The Finish Line closes 6 hours after the last person crosses the Start Line. Due to the zonal staggered road re-opening times, you will be asked to move onto the pavement if you do not keep within the 6hour pace. This is so we can facilitate roads reopening for local businesses and residents.

WHERE CAN I SEE THE ADIDAS MANCHESTER MARATHIN RESULTS?

You can see the results here. We aim for results to be published between 15 – 30 minutes after the participant crosses the Finish Line.
